Phallus ravenelii

Description:

Smelly mushroom approximately 4 1/2 inches tall with spongy pores on cream colored hollow stem and under brown-green smooth cap.

Habitat:

Grows on wood debris, rotted stumps, and sawdust, and in deciduous woods. August–October.

Notes:

Edible only in the 'egg' stage, but should be identified by an expert.
