Peacock Pansy Butterfly

Junonia almana

Description:

Bright orange butterfly with prominent eye spots. When the wings are folded it shows no trace of the brilliant colour. This one is the wet season form...monsoon after all. This is not a rare butterfly but a welcome visitor nonetheless.

Habitat:

My roof top terrace. Sharing a mango with the birds, bees, flies, hornets and birds. It is surprising how far a bruised mango can go! Each time I go up to the terrace there is a new visitor and a new drama unfolding. It makes being confined to the home a little easier to bear.
