Rosebelly Lizard

Sceloporus variabilis

Description:

Small-medium-sized lizard, over 15 cm in length including tail; colored as shown.

Habitat:

Spotted along the path between the parking lot and visitor center at Estero Llano Grande State Park. Overall habitat is mesquite forest and grassland with shallow ponds.

Notes:

Like most lizard species, color and pattern varies considerably with age, gender, and breeding season.
