Pomelo is a big citrus fruit, 10-25 cm in diameter, with a thick spongy rind. The flesh is sweet. Pulp vesicles are large with a yellow or pink color.
Scientific name : Citrus maxima
Common names : Pomelo, Pummelo, Chinese grapefruit, Pommelo, Shaddock, Jambola, Batabi lebu (বাতাবি লেবু ) in Bengal.

Ian ,Both Pomelo and Kavittt do not seem to be the same. Kavitt is hard shelled and when opened up is pulpy.

Sushil,does this fruit turn brown on ripening?
As far as i can guess this seems to be something like " Kavitt" Hard shelled.
It is tart and if ripened properly is a mixture of tart and sweet. The taste is just unbelievable.!
My mom usually made Chutney with it. i enjoyed and loved the fruit as is ,with a little salt!
