Oh video...you can post that on here now. I think you hit edit this spotting. But I will suggest you edit the video clip if it's longer than a minute or two. File size and loading speed.

The animal with the Mockingbird is a Groundhog.....Thanks Heather for the kind words. We also have video of the bird attack. It was not more than a mile frommy home down near the river's edge.

I clicked your link to groundhog and the photo on the right looks a lot like the mammal in your photo. The groundhogs in Utah are quite different.

By the way I've a photo of a Marmot in Ogden Canyon, Utah. Here's a link to a page showing the Yellow Bellied Marmot.

I looked up Marmot because this spotting is in Alabama, which is not the arctic. Then the related link was a groundhog. Other than the day, I did not even know what a groundhog looked like. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groundhog

That has to be one of the coolest action shots I've seen in a while. The bird is attacking the ???what is that brown animal? a beaver?? porcupine?? The white on the birds feathers, from what I've read, is a warning to other birds in the area of danger approaching. This is likely an adult protecting a nest?

You should consider adding this posting to a mission "Best Wildlife Contest" because I think it is a unique interaction of the two species.
