Protogoniomorpha anacardii
This clouded mother-of-pearl was spotted in a garden in the Tanzanian capital Dar es Salaam. This species of Nymphalidae is found in tropical Africa.
In a large garden area near the sea. During a one week stay in Dar I saw these butterflies everyday.
Welcome...
This butterfly give me idea of Nymphalidae family's wide variety.
They are memorable with four legs type appearance..
Thanks again Kristen! I have more tropical surprises coming up for you. I am not uploading much at the moment as I'm still travelling and connections are...challenging.
No problem! I've been working with butterflies for 11 years so I can use shape and location to quickly narrow down the options and reference books for species ID. Additionally, I have a necklace pendant made from the wings of this butterfly which was extra helpful for the ID.
