Firedot Lichen

Caloplaca verruculifera

Description:

The habitat and appearance point to Caloplaca verruculifera, but apothecia are rarely present in C. verruculifera, and when they are they are usually isidiate toward the thallus center

Habitat:

Found on a large boulder at the beach. Most of the time the base of the boulder in underwater (the part with the lichens doesn't get submerged though), so these are exposed to a lot of salt.
