Pierid Butterfly

Description:

An abundant Pierid Butterfly with dark borders on the upper wings that was both puddling in the undergrowth along the highway and landing on the leaves. When it landed on yellow leaves (as in the second picture) it was impossible to see. Family Pieridae.

Habitat:

Heavy shrubbery along the highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 11.5, 865 meters.
