Damara Zebra

Equus quagga antiquorom

Description:

distinguished from other zebras by the shadow stripes, this species is native to Southern Africa

Habitat:

grassland

Notes:

These are living in Oregon's Wildlife Safari in Winston. The herd suddenly took to running and playing around our vehicle and then went to harass a long sleeping bull giraffe. Trying for some running shots, I snapped this "collage" instead. When I posted it on a couple sites, people were sure I took it on my recent trip to Kenya and were disappointed. I on the other hand am glad there are zoos to educate people about life on our planet
