Stinking Vase Sponge

Description:

Grows up to 2' (40-61 cm) in diameter and up to 3' (50-91 cm) high. Trumpet shaped sponges with deep centers and asymmetrical sides. Cup wall thickness does not exceed 1" (3 cm). Surface strongly conulose. Color varies from purple to red to brown.

Tom Owens Cay, Belize
