Jumping Spider

Salticidae

Description:

Black Salticidae. Red coloration around the anterior eyes. White stripes on the abdomen. Resembles Male Hyllus Diardi in structure but different coloration on the face. Size: About 8-9mm.

Habitat:

Tropical forest and grass lands.

Thanks!! Basically there has been hardly any serious study on jumping spiders of Bangladesh. There are references of some studies on spiders but almost none on jumping spiders. So far only 4 species have been recorded and mentioned officially. I have taken an initiative to archive as much as I can and then I might approach some of our local universities to come forward with a research project on this. I have received some appreciation here for working on this for such a long time but nothing serious yet. If I am to assume, I would say it won't be any less than 500 sp. Its a wild guess and the fact might well be far from this count.
