Largest toads in the Sonoran Desert.
The Sonoran Desert Toad are seen in the southwestern United States in New Mexico, Arizona, parts of California and also in northern Mexico. They will burrow underground, in abandoned rodent tunnels if available.
FOR DOG OWNERS: Dogs are at risk from Sonoran Desert Toads and can have fatal symptoms of toad poisoning after licking a toad, e.g., salivation, foaming at the mouth, head shaking, red or irritated gums, drunken gait, confusion, weakness or complete collapse, heart arrhythmia, vomiting, diarrhea, and pawing at the mouth. Seizures and death can occur in dogs within 30 minutes from a Sonoran Desert Toad poisoning.

Have you seen any Sonoran Desert Toads this year?
With the first rain rolling through Tucson, I'm already wondering what I might see if I go out and take a look. I always get excited by the monsoons. Any recommendations for where to watch wildlife during the monsoons?
