Vanessa atalanta
orange at the base of the spines signifies red admiral
caterpillar mission is now global for those interested.http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/9420...
yea it was pretty quick for a caterpillar, and annoyed at me for picking it up.
OK...good...hope it makes it's way back.
i accidently placed it on a milkweed plant after picking it up(genius me). there were nettle plants around it.
I'm thinking this is the Common Buckeye. The plant it is feeding on does not appear to be nettle.
nah i dont think it was a nettle..but that does look like the one
My first instinct was Red Admiral, but the two are very similar. Did you notice what it was feeding on?
