Arched Hooktip

Drepana arcuata

Description:

Green fellow about a half an inch long. He has four red knobs/bumps near his head, as well as a stripe that runs along the length of his body. He appears to have a red, pointed tail. It is not like the tails of hornworms, though.

Habitat:

I have not identified the tree I found him on. I believe it was some kind of birch.

Notes:

I have noticed that he likes to stretch thick lines of silk across the leaf he is feeding on. There are seven or eight above him, which causes the leaf to curl slightly. He hangs out underneath the strands.
