Green Lacewing Larva

Chrysopidae

Description:

The item in the upper right is a green lacewing larva. It is carrying around debris as camouflage. As it will eat the aphids on the scarlet milkweed, it is a welcome addition for natural pest control.

Habitat:

Spotted in the coastal tropical south. FL gulf coast.

You are quite welcome. I thought those were little aphid legs sticking out of its back! I've seen these tiny 'junk bugs' often.

I remember reading somewhere that some of the larvae of lacewings (Neuroptera) will over themselves in debris as camouflage.
