Sunflower

Description:

This sunflower is from a seed in my bird feed. It is a bout two feet tall and the flower is 4 inches wide. This one is tiny compared to the 7ft mammoth sunflowers I planted in my front flower bed.

Habitat:

Urban flower garden.

Notes:

The head of a sunflower is formed into two opposite sets of spirals, 21 spirals going in one direction and 34 going in the other. These are consecutive numbers in the Fibonacci sequence.
