Western Honey Bee

Apis mellifera

Description:

"The first honeybees brought to New Zealand were the Northern European black strain (Apis mellifera). The first of the yellow Italian strains were imported about 1880. Other strains came from Australia and America."(https://teara.govt.nz/en/beekeeping/page-2 )

Habitat:

Collecting from a flower on the Rosmary plant (Rosmarinus sp. I think) out the back. The location is not exact as this is taken where I live.

Notes:

Thank you Ornithoptera80 for the identification. An interesting article: https://www.odt.co.nz/news/dunedin/buzzy... Another interesting read: https://www.odt.co.nz/opinion/urban-bees...
