This Gulf Fritillary caterpillar was spotted from the walkway in the butterfly garden (see notes). The fearsome looking spines are supposed to be soft and there is not supposed to be any stinging. I decided not to test the data. Poisonous if eaten.
Southern US, Mexico, and Central America. Spotted in FL, USA
