American Pipit

Anthus Rubescens

Description:

A fledgling pipit viewed on Mt. Evans in Colorado. It still had some tufts of down feathers and couldn't fly very far, so I came to the conclusion-after watching it for some time that it was a fledgling (especially after I saw its parents nearby.)

Habitat:

It breeds in arctic and alpine tundra. In migration and winter uses coastal beaches and marshes, stubble fields, recently plowed fields, mudflats, and river courses. (www.allaboutbirds.com)
