Red-winged Blackbird

Agelaius phoeniceus

Description:

A little larger than a Robin, this immature bird is more clorful at this stage than either parent. This young bird is striped on the underside and a light colored eyebar. It will darken with age and become less colorful.

Habitat:

Almost always found around aquatic settings with shoreline vegetation. These birds stake out territory and are relatively noisey and aggressive in this pursuit.
