Sapphire Blue Sea Holly

Eryngium

Description:

A beautiful plant that can grow two feet tall with thistle type flower. The stems are a blueish purple color. One of my favorites in my garden

Habitat:

A wild flower found along European seacoasts and although it's natural habitat is widespread.

Notes:

it is an endangered species. They sell these plants in garden centers and I have one in my garden in Connecticut. The flowers of E Maritimum are hermaphrodite, so the plant is self-fertile. It is also pollinated by bee, fles, and beetles. Maritimum refers to the plants seaside habitat.
