Toad Lily

Trilium ovatum

Description:

Members of the lily family, trilium grows in moist, shady places (here in Sonoma County, that would most often be on the redwood forest floor and in riparian areas). You can often find them near stands of calypso orchids.

Habitat:

Moist, shady places

Notes:

I photographed the trilium and previously posted Calypso orchid in the same place -- a mixed redwood forest in a riparian area near Healdsburg, Northern California.
