Description:

Male monarch butterfly on buddleia. Males have a spot called the "androconium" in the center of each hind wing from which pheromones are released.

Notes:

The occasional sightings we have of these spectacular butterflies make all the time & money we are investing in creating our wildlife habitat seem worthwhile!

The bright orange colors of the Monarch advertises it's toxicity to predators. Added to Animals with Warning Colors mission.
