Aggregating Anemones

Anthropleura elegantissima

Description:

From Dave Dewey, who works at Fitzgerald Marine Reserve: "The anemones you photographed are Aggregating Anemones. They reproduce exact clones of themselves so that a group will have the same exact genetic material. Their colors can vary and they can look similar to the Giant Green Anemone, however Green Anemones will never be found in a group like this."

Habitat:

Found in dense masses in the Middle Tidal Zone.
