Lisa, I think this isn't dassie rat (Petromus typicus) but a Rock Hyrax (Procavia capensis). A case in point of why scientific names are so important, since the common name is the same for these two creatures!

Since you know the identity of this interesting creature, how about adding the scientific name, Petromus typicus. It helps more people to see it and find it in the search engines.

Hi emmyvandet,
Since you know the identity of your organism (from your use of its common name), please go ahead and fill in the scientific name field. In this case for the "Dassie" it is Procavia capensis. This allows the spotting to be correctly entered into the Project Noah database and become a complete record, letting groups and individuals use the data and find your spotting. It also takes the spotting off the "unidentified" list.
