Spotting

Description:

Small shrub growing alongside berry bushes in a meadow. Large,toothed leaves in groupings of three. Large thorns growing along the main shoots of the shrub.

Habitat:

In Yosemite Valley.

4 months ago would've been toward the end of its growing season and beginning its dormancy. Most berries don't produce in its first year of growth

It certainly looks like it, but I don't remember seeing any fruit--whether it produced earlier in the year, I'm not sure. And it wasn't flowering.
