Coral Tooth

Hericium coralloides

Description:

Big white fungus growing all over downed tree. Didn't see another like it the entire time we visited the forest. It looks similar to a cauliflower mushroom, but I think it was the wrong time of year.

Thank you RandyL. We are several hundred miles away from them now.

A very delicious edible. If they are not far away you should go back and collect them for the dinner table.

Great spotting! It's a type of coral fungi, maybe crested coral, but I'm not sure.
