Golden Eagle

Aquila chrysaetos

Description:

A huge bird of prey, with only the white-tailed eagle larger in the UK. With its long broad wings and longish tail, it has a different outline to the smaller buzzard. It likes to soar and glide on air currents, holding its wings in a shallow 'V'.

Notes:

A stunning bird. I could watch them for hours.

Sorry for the slow reply, Jake! No, I've not seen any white tailed eagles. I live on the Isle of Lewis and the eagles are mainly down in the more mountainous Isle of Harris. I saw this chap soaring through the air as I was driving and I was lucky enough that I could stop and watch him for a while :)

A beautiful bird from one of the most beautiful corners of the planet. Have you seen any white tailed eagles? Truly magnificent.
