Archimantis latistyla
!0cm long. A slender brown mantis with wings that finish before the end of the abdomen. Narrow thorax and a blue mark between the brown eyes, Wing veins are visible and there are one or two spots on the wings when closed.
This mantis was hunting moths next to a driveway light in a garden of Clivea and ferns at night. The area is Narrabeen Alluvial forest
Intelligent and curious creature which was not frightened or aggressive but quite calm and happy even when being transported as long as the lid was off. The mantis flew easily and yet still remained within the small studio area and happily explored the camera and I after landing
