If it is not Sequoia sempervirens (coast redwood) then it is Sequoiadendron giganteum (giant sequoia). That is definitely a burl in one of these species.

These do look like Redwoods, but they're not... I just can't recall what kind of trees they actually are. I have to get my hands on the brochure from the park, I have it somewhere...

Those look like redwoods, and that's a big burl of some sort.
