Tobacco Budworm Moth

Heliothis virescens

Description:

Brown moth with green/gray eyes and vertical markings on wings. This moth has a pink nose as seen in the third image.

Habitat:

Dead leaf in shade in backyard

Notes:

"The larvae feed on various crops, most notably Nicotiana species." Since we don't have tobacco here in the area, other possible food sources are: "Penstemon laevigatus, Desmodium species, Lespedeza bicolour, Medicago lupulina, Geranium dissectum, Rhexia species, Rumex species, Physalis species, Lonicera japonica, Lupinus species, Ipomoea species, Jacquemontia tamnifolia, Passiflora species, Sida spinosa, Helianthus species, Linaria canadensis and Abutilon theophrasti." - Wikipedia

Hi KarenL, thank you for the ID suggestion. I'm thinking this is an Owlete moth. The antenna look different as does the pattern on the wings although similar.
