Description:

Striated Pardalotes are found throughout all Australia and are one of several species and forms that inhabit varied parts of the country. small birds, males and females look similar, upper parts are gery with black extremities to feathers, white streak on wing, red, orange or yellow spot near shoulder point of wing. the white eyebrow has a yellow patch near the front, the throat and chest areas also yellow with remainder of feathers udnerneath white or buff coloured, black beak.

Several forms of Striated Pardalotes are found Australia-wide with minor differences to distinguish them apart. some are thought to migrate to a certain extent while others remain within a region. it is also believed that they will interbreed. often very inquisitive.

Ha-ha! Thanks venusflytrap2000. They're only tiny birds, very trusting & responsive to calls, often around. The call is quite loud for a small bird & they are often heard but not seen due to the size & camouflage (although they do look bright it is a good colouring for disappearing into the bush!).

Thanks Tom15. I should add some full body shots so others can see the full form of the bird.

Thank you everyone for great comments. These birds are just so delicate and beautiful. Often the smaller birds realise I'm not a threat and will stay close by for safety from predatory birds and other animals as they are more wary of my presence. Maybe some sort of symbiotic relationship there - ha-ha!

These are precious and beautiful little birds, love em. They are many local extinctions in the face of cats and development so it is nice to see your photograph
