Coreopsis leavenworthii
In 1991, the Coreopsis, some varieties referred to as tickseed, was adopted as Florida's official state wildflower
Wildflower
Thank You, for the ID!! I'm not sure we will go back there its wild , lots of wild gators and such! Its for the great adventurer type! Lol
The only Coreopsis on the plant list for Paine's Prairie is Coreopsis leavenworthii...so I'm going with that...these plants are pretty variable. If you get any more pics please add them.
I found it in a sandy area in the Paines Prairie, which is in Gainesville. It is a state park with thousands of acres which includes Woodlands,Prairies,Hammock and Sandy areas with Pines. I took other photos of another yellow type Daisey, that is a bit different, I will put on, soon.
I tend to think this is a Coreopsis by looking at the inflorescence & the flower buds...but, I can't find a species that looks just like it.
How would you describe the area where you found it?
