White-breasted Nuthatch

Sitta carolinensis

Description:

White face, breast and underparts. Slate gray upperparts with a black cap. Bill is slightly upturned. Sitta carolinensis is slightly larger than other nuthatches.

Habitat:

Spotted at a water puddle at a construction site. Cascade foothills in eastern Washington. Ponderosa pine forest.
