Common starling

Sturnus vulgaris

Description:

Very common dark blue to blackish bird; with a blue sheen in its feathers, and heathers speckled white. In adult and subadult (I believe subadult is portrayed - or juvenile at the end of first winter, just becoming an adult) in summer period, the bill is yellow (blackish in winter).

Habitat:

Very common in woodland areas, urban setting and agricultural areas. Flocks in large numbers after breeding. Here seen in urban setting (but very calm small town and close to a big wooded + meadow park), and all together close to slopes of Jura and coasts of lake Leman (Geneva).

Notes:

Observed during the Great Backyard Bird Count.
