Laetiporus sulphureus

Description:

five separate fruitings on a Green Ash tree. three near ground level, one at 1.7m and other at 2m. cap is many layers of fan shaped shelves. largest are 30cm long, smallest 13cm. specimen picked is 9cm radius. cap colour is light pumpkin. first 6cm out from centre is slightly darker and last 3cm of cap to margin is lighter. thickness is 1.5cm at base 0.5cm at edge. flesh is hard put pliant at base and rubbery soft at margin. cap surface has radial furrows and ridges. cap margin is yellow (like fertile pore surface) and deep orange in places. cap flesh is verly light near pores shading towards the pumpkin orange near cap surface. pore surface is yellow. approximately 2 pores per mm. pore layer thickness is 1mm or less in placs. flesh and pore surface do not stain when bruised or cut. No spore print was obtainable.
