- Slightly flattened, distinctly segmented body - Legs usually paler than body - Deep chestnut brown - Male has 30 pairs of legs, female has 31

Habitat:

Native to Japan, these insects live in greenhouses and urban gardens and in woods near urbanised areas year round. They only eat soil and decompasing organic matter; they are not plant pests.
