Wheel bug (with parasitic fly eggs)

Description:

Wheel bugs are probably my most common spotting, but I try to show them from different places and in different situations. Sometimes they're nymphs and sometimes they're feeding. This particular wheel bug is sporting 3 parasitic fly eggs - 2 on its left side and 1 on the right. I believe it was entomologist Eric Eaton who once told me that certain flies targeted leaf-footed bugs (order Coreidae), but perhaps these flies accidentally or intentionally moved to the similar assassin bugs for some reason. Either way, it's interesting and this is the second year in a row that I've observed these eggs on wheel bugs in the Tulsa area.
