Paropsisterna detrita
A eucalyptus leaf beetle. Little or no information is available on this species. About 8mm long.
Larve live on eucalyptus leafs.
The last photo is the beetle stopping to wipe its hind feet together. Found this little jewel on a client's ceiling in a suburban area

Very nice find!
Thanks Lori. Check this image. The photographer has not indicated which part of Australia it was taken but it is clearly related to yours. http://www.jennihorsnell.com/beetles_bug...
Anytime you want to come down, Martin, just let me know. We have a lovely spare bedroom. Yeah, I'm familiar with both photographers, Mark, they do great work. It's nice to have a reliable source for Tasmanian anything.
Insects of Tasmania site is excellent. It is servitude and zosterops from Flickr. (Tony Daley & Kristi Ellingsen). They're very thorough with ID's. And so much is relevant to southern Vic.
This is gorgeous lori. I think I need to come over.
Yours is more pretty than the reference image.
There seems to be several sites with dodgey identifications for leaf beetles but your Tassie site seems to be reliable. Its not one that I've seen before.
So beautiful!
Nice!!!
Thanks mark. It's the prettiest one I've seen here in Tassie. It was literally crawling across a ceiling, and I was up a ladder, so I took it to my car and put in in one of my empty food containers. The link I have is the only info I can find on this species, so I'm taking an educated guess.
That's a little gem. Great colour.
