Thin-legged Wolf Spider

Genus: Pardosa

Description:

This spider (a female) had a legspan of about 18mm. Thin-legged wolf spiders, as their name implies, have relatively long, slender legs in contrast to other wolf spiders. Also, unlike other wolf spiders, they are active daytime hunters. The egg sac she is carrying starts out with a slightly greenish color cast, as in this case, but turns a dirty brown as it matures.

Habitat:

I found this spider, along with many others, on a sandy shoreliine along the Mississippi River in St. Paul, Minnesota.
