Description:

Strange fungus found growing on a tall tree stump - used to be the main trunk, but cut. The two photos where they're more rounded were taken on 9/18, while the other two shots where they're more open were taken on 9/26, showing their growth. Dry, not slimy.

Habitat:

Someone's front yard, growing on a living maple tree.
