Bagworm

Description:

It looks like a series of twigs cemented together with leafy debris as it hangs from under a leaf but it is the safe home of the bagworm moth. It is large; quite bulky.

Habitat:

Ever since I saw my first one, I have been seeing bagworm homes everywhere and in a splendid assortment of shapes too. This one was feasting on a wild castor plant recently decimated by caterpillar of the castor butterfly. Poor plant. Neglected patch of land in urban residential area. My morning walk route.
