Yeah, it can be pretty aggressive. Maybe you can try cutting it all and then put some Roundup right onto the stems at the base to kill it.
I am losing a battle with it. It's hard to kill and if left unchecked it climbs up into the threes producing vines that choke everything and become woody and up to 1"-2" diameter at the bottom.
