Sable Island Wild Horse

Equus ferus

Description:

"The most famous, and perhaps the most popular, of Sable Island's fauna are the wild horses. Although access to the island is restricted - both by location and by regulations - the horses are well-known, and are of great interest, culturally and scientifically..." Please check out the website I linked for more info on these beautiful animals.

Notes:

This is one of the very few remaining Sable Island-born horses currently in captivity; all of which are located at Shubenacadie Wildlife Park.

Very interesting reading about this breed Mary. They look tough, similar to the native U.K breeds, like the Dartmoor, Exmoor and Welsh Mountain. Thank you!
