A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Lophocampa maculata
Banded black, yellow, black; white tufts at each end. This caterpiller has the black spots down the middle of its back that are typical of those found in eastern North America.
Local habit for this spotting: poplars, birches, maples. Spotted on a path that is protected from the sun by an overhang.
Sometimes called the Yellow Wooly bear because of its resemblance to that banded caterpillar.
