Description:

Spreading evergreen with reddish bark. LEaves glossy, narrow lanceolate and 10cm long. Clusters of pendulous white flowers, each 9mm long, appear in winter. Fruits reddish orange and berry-like.

Habitat:

Maquis, scrub and open woods.

Notes:

In Portuguese, the berries are used to make a liqueur called 'medronho'.
