Monarch butterfly

Danaus Plexippus

Description:

Backyard monarch

Habitat:

Suburban garden with prairie plantings

Notes:

They're on to me! I noticed that, after five days of tagging, the monarchs tended to stay over 5 feet up when feeding on the asters in back. I could still catch them on the tithonias in front.
