Gibbifer californicus
I saw a few of these beetles over the summer, in damp areas with evergreen trees. But in mid- to late September, they were suddenly all over the place. The four photos are of four different beetles found in the same area at the same time.

Thanks SatyenMehta and LarsKorb :)
Very nice one
Lovely.
Thanks for the comments... I saw some paler beetles in Arizona a couple of years ago, but I've never seen a silver/gray one like the one Ismael found in Costa Rica. :)
I spotted the same one but in gray color http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/732...
Excellent Spotting!!!! These little guys are GREAT!!!! I saw something similar in the lower elevations when I lived out there. They were more drab in color though, and only ever saw two, down in CastleWood Canyon Park. Between Castle Rock and Parker. :-D
LOVE these photos! And am in love with these beetles! (And what a name...)
Thanks Misako! :)
Love the color and great photos!
Thanks you guys... I do love these beetles. And it was really cool that there were so many of them around that they were flying into us. A couple of them landed on my head!
Oh man, it's so nice to see these blue beauties. :)
Great shots textless!
Awesome spotting and amazing color! Great series, textless!
Gorgeous color! And I also appreciate a slow moving bug!
Thanks! Their color is really striking, and they're slow enough that they're easy to photograph. :)
