Northwestern Crow

Corvus caurinus

Description:

Smaller than the American Crow and different vocalization

Habitat:

narrow band of coastal BC from Alaska down to the Puget Sound in Washington, US and including the coastal islands.

Notes:

In winter at dusk, I love to watch the "river of crows" as it flies over my house on the way to the winter night roost. Hundreds of crows from all over the Fraser Valley make their way to roosts for the night. This is not done in breeding season when they are on territory with their mate.
