Notes:

This little guy was exhibiting a strange behavior, he was hoping instead of walking, on closer inspection we saw that he only had one leg =( . Pilrito-de-peito-preto (Portuguese). Spotted in Alvor Estuary.

Hi Laura! Thank you! They were spotted while participating in a bird watch event in Alvor Estuary which is the kind of place that these types of birds like to be in =) We spotted more but unfortunately I wasn't able to take their pictures because they were so far away, we used telescopes to watch a lot of them. I wish I had more zoom in my camera.
At first I was sad too for the little guy but then I was happy because he seamed to be doing really well, he was eating and hoping around, and other than the leg he seamed fine.

You've spotted a lot of neat wading birds! Sad to hear this poor little guy only had one leg :( But it sounds like he's adapted!
